Fed Ex Cargo, O’Hare Modernization Project, Chicago, IL

The Fed Ex Cargo Relocation Facility was part of the O'Hare Modernization Program that included this 3.9 acre green roof. Upon installation it marks the largest green roof on a free standing building in the greater Chicago area as well as the largest green roof at an airport facility in the U.S. Intrinsic Landscaping, Inc. drove the design for the 3.9 acre green roof that requires special attention to F.O.D. (Foreign Object Debris) in an active airspace.- The green roof is estimated to have a saturated weight of 4.3 million lbs. as well as yield 2 million gallons of storm water retention annually.
